North Canberra-Gungahlin Athletics Club has been conducting the event on the shores of Lake Ginninderra for over 20 years, We offer a great opportunity for young athletes to have a bit of fun, maintain their fitness over winter, and also compete for points for their school. Mums, Dads siblings and friends are welcome to make it a family fitness session.

The 2014 North-side Schools Cross-country season will commence on Sunday 27th April and continue through until 17th August. This year's information sheet, which contains a registration form and calendar for the season, is available as a pdf file.

Race distances vary each week and according to age:
U5s: 800m or 1km
U7s: 800m or 1km
U9s: 800m, 1km or 1.5km
U11s: 1km, 1.5mk or 2km
U13s: 2km or 3km
U15s upwards: 2km, 3km or 4k/5km.

Each Sunday an 'early birds' race is held at 8:50am for those athletes who have to rush off to other commitments, then the age group races are conducted between 9am and 9:30am. Features of our competition are:

* athletes can run for fun, fitness or build on training for Cross Country ACT Team selection
* awards for place-getter, top points scorers and most improved at end of season championships
* parents and teachers and fun runners can run last event each week
* perpetual trophies for winning schools in each age group from under 7 up to under 19 for both boys and girls
* weekly results are posted to the North-side Schools Cross-Country blog .

Fees: A season registration costs only $20 per athlete or $50 for a family of 3+, with a casual fee of $5 for those wanting to give it a go on the day.
Where: McDermott Place at Lake Ginninderra on Sunday 27th April from 8:30 onwards - register and compete in a fun run at 9am.
Registrations are also taken each competition day during the season.
